Energy Performance Certificates of Buildings will be issued in Belarus in 2012

In the first quarter of 2012 in Belarus will be issued Energy performance certificates of buildings, said December 14, 2011 at a press conference Leonid Shenets — director of Department for Energy Efficiency of the State Committee for Standardization.

The energy performance certificate (EPC) is required for a person to know the heat energy consumption of his house. EPC will indicate: type, calculated area of building, building and reconstruction years, distribution of energy consumption for household needs, and most important energy efficiency class according to European standard from "A++" (low energy consumption under 10 kWh/m² per year) to "F" (more than 250 kWh/m² per year).

Soviet constructed buildings consume 160–190 kWh/m². Buildings constructed according to 2003 year standards 80–90 kWh/m². Buildings constructed according to recent standards consume about 60 kWh/m². An energy efficient house requires only 40 kWh/m².

When buying a flat EPC will help a person choose a house with low energy consumption. To the tenants of already built house EPC will show what measures should be implemented to improve the efficiency at minimum cost, and provide analysis when these costs are recouped.
